A few months back we ran a contest called ReverseRemixThis! Sing with Map where we asked budding singers and songwriters to sing on top of a track off of Map’s Speechless. Several great entries were highlighted and Michael Signorelli of More in Sorrow, the85bears, and Little Lords arose victorious.

Today, I present to you another such contest featuring another Velvet Blue Music band, Portland’s legendary DIY superstars The Prids. Without further ado, here is your mission if you choose to accept it:

1. Listen to and/or download the song “I’ll Wait” by The Prids.

2. Absorb the feel, tone, and atmosphere that is The Prids.

3. Download the instrumental version.

4. Get out your pad and start cracking on your new lyrics.

5. Record your new version of the track.

6. Send it to justincharlesharlan@gmail.com with the subject “Prids Contest” by the end of the day on August 31st.

7. Wait for Jeff Cloud, myself, and the band to make our selections, to be revealed on the return of the TPM Monthly Mixtape on September 8th.

The winner gets 2 copies of the album, one on CD and one on vinyl, AND a $50 VBM gift certificate to use on YOUR CHOICE OF ANY VBM MERCH.

Sick prize, right? I think so! And, runners up will get some consolation prizes from TPM’s big bag o’tricks, maybe I can even convince Jeff to throw in another VBM CD or 2, as well.
