Yes, another RemixThis! contest… and a different one at that, a MUCH different one. While the last two were tracks by fantastic rappers, this is a track by an indie rock band. Killer, right?

So, I’ll be you just want me to shut up and get to the point now, right?

1. Here’s the accapella track of the85bears track entitled “Meshac”: CLICK HERE

2. Chop/Slice/Dice/Speed Up/Slow Down/Etc the track into the best gosh darn remix you can rock.

3. Email it to me by October 23rd at 1700 hours.

4. Sit back and talk to your friends about Ditka and Da Bears until the results are released on next month’s mixtape.

“What do I win?” you ask. You win three prizes… first the85bears will post your track on their heavy frequented MySpace page to share with their friends and other folks on the Interweb. Second, I will put together a spotlight piece on you for this site, where I highlight who you are, what you do, and why you are awesome. Last, but not least, I will share the track for download on not only the next mixtape but also with the readers of Decapolis, another website I contribute to. So in other words… the winner gets mad publicity from thepaintedman and the85bears.

Another RemixThis! contest is underway as part of Contest Week on TPM! There will be two RemixThis! contests this week, remixes for both will be due by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 23rd.

Here are the rules, simple and easy… please follow them, as veering from the rules creates a big pain in the butt!

1. Download the accapella version of thekeenone’s “Hit That Shit” featuring B-Real of Cypress Hill.

2. Remix the shit out of it.

3. Email submissions to justincharlesharlan@gmail.com. (This is where people screwed up last time… do not send submission directly to the artist or via MySpace/Facebook/Etc)

4. Sit back and wait for November’s Mixtape and collect your prizes.

Hey everyone, a few updates for ya’ll…

-The RemixThis! Contest is in full swing. In fact, RemixThis! “Solid Gold” featured on Remix Comps and Laptop Rockers. At least 4 entries are in, keep ‘em coming! Really hoping someone takes a shot at a rock version, mostly because I love me some Hip Hop injected with Rock and/or Roll! Do the damn thing… by Friday, that is.

-This week will conclude the Tuesday with Riley series. Hopefully that will be up on time this week, although with my schedule and his, I can’t promise anything. Check on Twitter and here to find out when it’s up.

-I am writing reviews and interviews for Decapolis now, check out reviews of Telegraph Canyon and Derek Webb. I will be rocking a review of TPM’s most downloaded band, the85bears, for Decap later this week.
